"The Best Halloween I Ever
Had"
by Sue Spataro
I remember the best Halloween I ever had. It was first grade,
1965. My teacher was Miss Treglia. She was my most favorite teacher in my life. Maybe this
is why Halloween still makes me smile. Let me tell you a more about what Halloween means
to me and also some important Halloween safety tips, so that your children's Halloween
will be special too!
The Truth About Bats
 Do you
think bats are scary? Do they all drink blood and attack people? Are they as "blind
as a bat"? The answers may be surprising! We chatted with Kim Williams at the
Organization for Bat Conservation about bats and she shared some fascinating information
about the true nature of bats, the
importance of creating bat houses and how you can make your own bat house!!
Halloween bag
Halloween bag will make sure that
all that candy comes home in one piece. I got this idea after years of trying to catch
candy coming from the bottom of ripped bags while trick or treating with the kids. The
bags can be reused every year and are sturdy enough for the most aggressive trick or
treater. There are many ways of decorating the bags from creative stitching to fabric
painting. This craft is perfect for all kids whether it is done at home or in school.

Halloween Gourds
What better symbol of Halloween than all
those beautiful pumpkins! Pumpkins are in the gourd family. You know, those funny shaped
pieces of produce that can look anything from a telephone to a bumpy baseball.
Pumpkin Pins
These pins are festive and easy to make.
All you need is some, felt, juice can tops and a little imagination! Remember to use a
permanent magic marker if you decide to draw on the felt pin- you don't want your design
to disappear.
Doggie Dress Up
 Are you crazy about dogs.
Do you dress them up for Halloween, special events, and just because it's Tuesday? It's
time you got out of the closet and declare to the world that you're crazy.
It's OK. We'll understand.
Don't believe us? Take a look!!
(and then send us a picture!)
Pumpkin Seed Flower
This craft is brought to you by
Irene Hayes. She is the mother, works part time and has been co-chair of her kids' school
council the past 2 years and is president of the P.T.O. Irene's children love to do
crafts, so she has cupboards and cupboards in the basement filled with anything and
everything that you can make a craft with. This is an excellent craft for all ages
especially for our preschoolers. The seeds can be used to help with both counting and
spatial skills (placing the seeds in the circle).
Halloween Safety
by Sue Spataro
Many parents worry about the safety of
Halloween. I believe with parental attention and participation it can be a fun time for
the kids.
