This week's Cookie of the
Week is brought to us by Families First's friend Lisa
Hiland. Lisa has shared with us one of her family's favorite
holiday cookie recipes. This sounds delicious and is easy to bake.
Thanks Lisa : )!
Here's a little
bit more about Lisa:
Hi my name is Lisa Hiland and I have been homeschooling now
for 4 years my fifteen year old daughter Kendra. I also have a son, Kalen, who is in
his first semester of college. I am a mixed blood Cherokee married to
my wonderful husband, Kevin, who is a full blood Navajo. This is one on
my favorite, just for the holiday, cookie recipe.
Lisa's Eggnog
Cookies
What You Need:
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup eggnog
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 5 -1/2 cups sifted flour
What you do:
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the
eggnog, nutmeg and baking
soda; mix well.
- Add enough flour to make a stiff dough. Chill. Roll
dough to 1/8 inch thickness on lightly floured board or pastry cloth and cut with
Christmas cookie cutters.
- At this point you can brush the cookies with slightly beaten
egg white and decorate with candied fruits or colored sugar.
- Bake cookies at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes, or until
lightly browned.
Martha's
Eggnog Cookies
This week's Cookie of the Week is brought to
us by my cyber buddy Martha Wisniewski who says "I have started my baking marathon.
There are so many terrific cookie recipes. They are all wonderful. It will be hard to
choose which ones to bake. My daughters and I plan to give boxes of cookies to friends and
family as our little way of saying Merry Christmas. We always have a wonderful time baking
together. The kitchen takes a beating, but it is more than worth it."
Vanilla Sugar Cookies
 This week marks the
beginning of our popular annual holiday event Cookie of the Week. Our
first cookie recipe is brought to us from cookbook author and chef Gregg Gillespie. Gregg
has every recipe you could ever want - including the ones from your grandmother's cookbook
and numerous brownie recipes. Gregg's Vanilla Sugar Cookies are great for the holidays and
very versatile. They can be made into round shapes or for the holidays, into any cookie
cutter you desire. They also can be decorated. The Vanilla Sugar Cookie recipe can also be
used all year around- it's a super basic recipe for Valentine's Day
cookies, Easter
cookies, Halloween
cookies, Christmas
cookies etc... |
