 This recipe
comes from Elaine
Lotz who says, "This recipe has been handed down so many times I really
don't know where it came from! I usually don't give out the recipe so I get invited to
parties just so they could have the salad for their party.
We are a large family made up of two of my husband's boys, three boys and one girl. So, I
had to learn how to cook for a crowd (and teenagers).
Luckily, I grew up in a restaurant owned and run by my Mom. I will send in more crowd
pleasing and budget squeezing recipes in the future."Orange Salad
What you need:
- 1 large box of orange Jell-O
- 1 large container of sour cream (16 oz )
- 1 large container of cool whip, defrosted
- 2 small cans of mandarin Orange (drained )
- 1 large can of pineapple tidbits (drained)
What you do:
- Put the sour cream in a large bowl, empty the dry Jell-O
into the bowl.
- Mix until the Jell-O is no longer gritty.
- Dump in the drained fruit and the cool whip.
- Fold all together.
- Chill for about 30 min.
This is a wonderful light, not to sweet cold dessert for summer
Tips: Save some oranges to garnish the top. I make either one flower out of the oranges or
sometimes three. Use mint leaves next to your flowers for color. You can also alternate
you fruit and Jell-O for example, use Strawberries and pineapple with strawberry Jell-O.
