This is a recipe for slow cooked ribs that will make your mouth water offered up by a member of our momscooking discussion group. Karen says:

This is awsome!  My fiancee ate and  thought these were the best ribs.  The next time I made them, he came into the kitchen while I was layering them in the crock pot with the  sliced onions and said (to put it kindly) yuck!  Now, he just says  that he doesn't want to know how I make them, because he can't resist  the final result!

What you need:

  • crockpot.jpg (11942 bytes)3 1/2 pounds pork loin back ribs
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons liquid smoke
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 1/2 cup cola
  • 1 1/2 cup barbecue sauce

What you do:

  1. Spray inside of 4 to 5 quart slow cooker with cooking spray.
  2. Remove inner skin from ribs.  Cut ribs into 4-inch pieces.  Mix  brown sugar, pepper, liquid smoke, garlic and salt; rub mixture into  ribs.  Layer ribs and onion in slow cooker.  Pour cola over ribs.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 8 to 9 hours or until tender.   Remove  ribs from slow cooker.  Drain and discard liquid.
  4. Heat coals or gas grill.  Place ribs on grill.   Brush with barbecue
sauce.  Cover and grill 4 to 6 inches from medium heat for 15 minutes.

    Serves 6

Note:  I have always used Sweet Baby Ray's Honey Barbecue Sauce.  I  have also made these indoors on an indoor grill, and they are great. They would probably be really good under the broiler as well. However you do it, I like to baste and turn a few times

Meat Marinade
fastrecipes.gif (3252 bytes)This weeks' Recipe of the Week features a delicious meat marinade.  It's time to get ready for the BBQ season!  I enjoy using marinades to improve the flavor of meats like poultry, beef, and pork for outdoor grilling. They would also work well for oven-broiling.

Tanya's Homemade BBQ sauce
summer.jpg (3674 bytes)This is a recipe for homemade barbecue sauce offered up by a member of our momscooking discussion group. Tanya says, "This is a wonderful recipe that I created for my father a few years ago. He loves a good B.B.Q But does not like any of the store brands of sauce. I make him this recipe every spring and he enjoys it to the very last drop."

Choco-Nut Frozen Banana
