find out more about Sueparty.jpg (17356 bytes)This is a fun craft to give you a great presentation to store your jelly beans. It uses a little orange tulle, is really easy to make and is great fun  as a project with your kids. They also make wonderful party favors and decorations. Hope you like it.

What you need:

  • Orange Tulle
    ( 5x10 inches for each carrot )
  • Orange jellybeans
  • Green raffia
  • Thin wire

What you do:

  1. Cutting tulle:
making the triangle- Fold rectangle lenghtwise in half; unfold. Draw a diagonal line from each top corner to bottom (at fold). Cut out long slim triangle, leaving 1/4 inch seam.
  2. Stitching:
Refold triangle; stitch open seam closed (leave top open). Trim seam to 1/8 inch; turn; poke out point for carrot shape.
  3. Adding jelly beans:
Fill carrot to 2 inches from top. Twist top closed, then secure by tying it up with a piece of wire, letting excess tulle pouf out at top.
  4. Making carrot top:
Gather several strands of raffia; fold in half, then in half again. Attach to tulle pouf with wire, then hide wire by wrapping it with a length of raffia 9secure loose end by slipping it under wrapped section). Cut loops.

Instead of orange jelly beans, you can also use cheese puffs, and if you have access to disposable pastery decorating bags, you can eliminate all the sewing, and just fill those!
