Here is one great idea to decorate
your house! Your own personalized pumpkin patch! It's very simple, but tons of fun. You
remember dyeing hard boiled eggs for Easter, why not for the Harvest Festival or
Halloween? All you need are hard boilled eggs, some orange food coloring and let your
imagination run wild!!What you need:
- Hard boiled eggs
(how many depends on how big you'd like your pumpkin patch to be)
- Orange food coloring
if you need to make the orange from red and yellow coloring it would be a great
opportunity to show your child how to create colors.
- Black laundry magic marker
- Piece of cardboard
- Toilet paper rolls or rolls from paper towels
- Green construction paper, green crayoned paper or left over
Easter "grass"
What you do:
- Once you have dyed your eggs orange and they are completely
dried, you and your preschooler can draw faces on them . I would recommend drawing the
face in pencil first and then trace over it with the black marker. You can include black
lines from top to the bottom to look like the natural marks found on a pumpkin. Make your
own jack-o' lantern! Then cut a piece of the paper roll so that the egg fits in it. This
provides a stand for the egg. The stand can be colored with crayons or decorated with
glitter.
- Attach the Easter grass with glue to the cardboard. If you
are not using grass you can make some with green colored/ construction paper. Just let
your little one cut strips of paper and again attach with the glue.
- You can add little fences to the patch or anything you like
to make a personalized patch. It makes a great table decoration and your child can really
get into it. Have fun!
Hope you like it!

Keeping the craft for year
after year
From: Karin L.
I loved the pumpkin patch fall craft idea!
My family and I had so much fun doing it! In fact, I wanted to keep it and use it year
after year. Instead of keeping the boiled eggs in place, I washed the eggs, blew out the
contents, and dipped/rinsed in alcohol, then rinsed in water. I painted the eggs pumpkin
orange and sealed them with a hobby sealant..then we decorated them with felt, pompoms, etc.
and hot glued them in place..and decorated the patch etc.... Now, I have a keepsake to use
year after year!
Thanks for all the great ideas! I really enjoy your website!
