This
week's Craft of the Week features a Valentine's Day activity. This Heart Bag can deliver
Valentines and then be used to receive Valentine Day cards while in school or in the
neighborhood. The best part about this craft is that
children can be as creative and add as many personalized touches as they want.
What they Need:
- Drawing paper
- Pencils
- Scissors
- Hole punch
- Glue stick or white craft glue
- Bag with a handle
(can be bought in local craft store)
- choose color or white Acrylic paints
- Ribbon- any color
- Glitter Doilies- red, white, pink
- Magic markers
- Magazine cut outs
What you do:
- Take the drawing paper and fold in half. Draw a half of a
heart and cut out along the drawn lines. Open up the heart and now you have a full heart.
If you have a large enough doily you can do this step with the doily.
- Decorate the heart with magic markers, glitter, paints or/or
stickers.
- Attach the heart to the front of your Heart Bag using either
the glue stick or white craft glue. You can make 2 hearts one for the front of the bag and
one for the back of the bag.
- Using a hole punch, make 2 holes in your bag under the
handle. Take your ribbon and run it through the holes and tie a pretty bow. Magazine cut
outs can make a fun collage look to the heart bag. Have the children cut out pictures of
what love means to them and attach to the bag with either the glue stick or white craft
glue.
Valentine's
Card
This craft is for the little pumpkins, but
you might find yourself wanting to do it too! This week's craft involves sponge painting.
There are many things that you can do with sponge painting. Since Valentine's Day is
around the corner I have two ideas for your littlest artist. Have a happy!
