This craft
was sent to us by Sharon
who is an active member of our crafts group. She says, "I have made "Valentine
Mice" (using Tootsie Pop Lollipops). They are great and adorable. My two year old had
fun making them. They are so cute and adorable and fun to make. Everyone will love
them!"
What you need:
- Lollipops
- paper to make patterns
- red felt
(body)
- white felt (ears)
- gogglie eyes (2)
- mini black pom-pom (1) for nose
- black cross-stitch thread (optional)
- glue gun or tacky glue.
What to do:
- Buy your lollipops first so you know what size you are
working with. Tootsie Pop has special Valentine's Day lollipops that are fat free.
- Make one heart pattern for the body. It needs to be big
enough so that when you fold the heart in half and the sucker will fit inside.
- Make one smaller heart pattern for the ears.
- Use the patterns to trace one large heart (red felt) for the
body; and, two small hearts (white felt) for the ears, and cut them out.
- Fold the large heart in half and glue the edges together,
leaving the rounded end open to insert the lillipop.
(The glue gun holds better on this part than the tacky glue.)
- Glue the small hearts on either side of the mouse so
they match up for the ears.
- Glue two wiggle eyes on either side of the mouse body.
- Glue mini pom pom on the end of the mouse body for a nose.
- If desired you can also use a needle to insert embrodiery
floss between the eye and nose for whiskers. Trim the whiskers to about 1" long on
each side of the mouse.
- Lastly, with left over red felt, you can cut out a small red
heart and glue it to the end of the lollipop tail for an added special touch.
HAVE FUN!!

Construction paper Lollipop
Craft
From: Denise
I read in 'family fun' magazine about a cute and very simple craft to do with lollipops
for Vday. Simply take red/pink/white construction
paper and cut out hearts. Write on the hearts (to/from) and tape them to the
lollipop. Boom, instant lollipop heart! You could even tape one to each side to make a
kind of 3-D heart. Good luck! Denise
Valentine Heart T-shirt
 You can really be creative
with the design of this shirt. Use a simple white T-shirt in your child's size and some
fabric paint to make a special shirt that you will enjoy making with your child and create
a keepsake that will go on & on after Valentine's Day is over.
Making Felt
This week's Craft of the Week is brought to us
by Janelle Hardy a homeschooling mom from Australia. She has shared with us
her technique to make felt- that wonderfully versatile and easy to use
material. This is perfect for Christmas and holiday ornaments and gifts.
Making felt or felting, as it is called, is a great group activity. This can be done
in the classroom or in your neighborhood. The kids will love it!! |
