Homeschoolers do much more
than book assignments for school.
Anyone who tells you homeschoolers are stationed at a kitchen table all day
hasnt taken enough time to get to know one.

Im a "mobile homeschooler."
Im always doing other things besides completing my science textbook
assignment.
From this picture (on the right) of my sister Eva, my piano
teacher and me, Aaron Evans, Im always doing new things!
This picture was taken at our annual piano recital. I
played two songs, "Toccata Brilliante" and "Reaching for a Rainbow."

I also had a duet with my kid sister, Eva.
This was a learning experience in itself! We had to constantly cooperate and
compromise with each other on the piece. Thankfully, our patience paid off (with a little
coaching from Aaron and my parents) and we rocked the recital!

It was a breeze to play the lively "Toccata Brillante". Months before, I played
the song at the Queens College piano evaluation. I practiced hard, memorizing the
piece and getting down the rhythm. The judges awarded me a superior grade for my
exceptional performance.

Aaron Evans helped me polish my songs until they were perfect. It was a lot of hard work
for both of us, but it was worth the effort. I learned many valuable lessons from this
experience, like being optimistic and patient, learning from my mistakes, and being
flexible. I hope I made Aaron proud, because hes not only a talented piano player,
but a also a friendly person.

Homeschoolers'
Success Stories:
15 Adults and 12 Young People Share the Impact That
Homeschooling Has Made on Their Lives
by Linda Dobson

One of the most common questions homeschoolers face is whether or not their children will
be able to function in "the real world." Now that the first children of modern
homeschooling have reached adulthood, the effectiveness of homeschooling in preparing
children to become successful, capable adults can finally be assessed. This book is an
in-depth exploration of life after homeschooling through real lives instead of test
scores. You will meet a cross-section of confident, well-educated men and women who were
homeschooled as children--men and women who have achieved success on a variety of levels.
You will see how they have grown up using the skills they first grasped as homeschoolers,
combining life and learning in the world of higher education, business, art, religion, and
more. |
