The Homeschool Zone, or
the Zone as I call it, is an interactive global community of homeschoolers, afterschoolers
and educators. Just about anyone who loves kids is truly welcome at the Zone. I would
think that includes most people, at least the ones I want to meet.We have grown quite a bit
since we started as a personal homepage on Compuserve back at the end of 1995. It
is part of a long voyage of self discovery that my wife, Sue, and I have traveled to help
our children, Joanne and Evamarie.
The
Zone is a special place,
which lies somewhere between the mind and the heart. It is a place of tolerance
for people of all faiths and beliefs. It is a place that welcomes many political agendas.
It is a place that welcomes you and is ALMOST FREE
The PRICE of being part of the Zone
is a commitment to give back what you take. Oh no, I'm not referring to money. I
hope that you share the fruits of what you learn here with your friends at home, your
children and, of course, to be a good "citizen of the Zone" and to share with
all of the fine people that make the Zone the special place it is.
The homeschooling movement
is creating a new class of students
about 1.7 million strong, that is increasingly being viewed as being different,
and in some ways superior, to their public school counterparts. The term
"homeschooling" is a misnomer since MOST of the learning occurs outside of the
home in the world of realspace and NOW increasingly in cyberspace. We have established the
homeschoolzone.com as a service organization devoted to using simple Internet technology
to disseminate knowledge and create a global community base for homeschoolers using the
integration of a technically simple, but extensive web presence, and listserver
communities.
Meet the author
 We bring authors
and readers together in our "Meet the
Author" series and have a special list of featured Educational Authors, Craft Authors, Medical Authors, Pet Authors and more. If you
are an author, musician, artists or just a really interesting person, you can join the series, too.
Weekly events
There is so much more and I would suggest that
you read each of these FAQ's (frequently asked questions)
because most of your questions are already there. Each week, we have new and interesting
things for you and your family and we have a weekly
reminder which we can send you by e-mail. Don't forget to join our discussion
group and continue your journey into home education.
