Speaking on dealing with negative people
From: Steph in PA
We experienced negativity from family when we first decided to homeschool, but we decided right from the start that since we were doing what we felt God wanted for us, so we wouldn't let our families attitudes interfere or discourage us. Now, going on our 4th yr. of homeschooling, 90% of our family members are supportive....No one questions our decision any longer. My point is, your children will be the proof that they need, and until they see it in the kids, there is no convincing, or statistics that will sway them toward homeschooling. So just continue in prayer, be patient and do what God has called you to do, and try not to let their attitudes discourage you!

Hi Sue, It's been a while since I've been to your site. When I arrived I was pleased to see that you spoke with Dr. Bennett. I am a homeschooling mom of 1 in Pennsylvania, and we use his program to teach our child. K12 is the curriculum that Pennsylvania Virtual Charter School uses. This is the first year, and I am very pleased. I hope that other parents will catch on and at least read some of Dr. Bennett's books. He is very wise when it comes to educating today's children. Thank You!

How to Design a Homeschool Curriculum from Preschool Through High School
hosted By Joe Spataro
gonext.gif (388 bytes)interview & FREE excerpt: "The Truth About Curricula"
rupp.jpg (4849 bytes)In this interview, Rebecca Rupp shares her insights on setting up your curricula. She says, "My new book is different from my previous homeschool books in that it is organized on a grade by grade (year by year) basis and can be used to create complete annual programs of study for kids of all ages." In the excerpt, "The Truth About Curricula," she points out that "One of the primary advantages of homeschooling is the ability to bypass the decreed norm. Homeschoolers can design their own curricula, assembling resources ad using approaches that best suit their own children’s needs." Read much more about this along with specific recommendations and ideas. Best of all, Rebecca Rupp is a regular participating member of our online discussion group homeschoolzone.
