is, who doesn't love brownies? This is a wonderful recipe from Bruce Weinstein who has
written an entire book about brownies. He says, "Here are the most decadent brownies
we've ever made: A sweet cream cheese ribbon is swirled into the buttery batter for a
treat that's rich, gooey, and still packed with chocolate."
Santa's Chocolate Sleigh Bell Cookies
 This week's Dessert of the Week features craft author Willie
Ripple's delicious recipe. These cookies, along with hundreds of other terrific Christmas
ideas can be found in her latest best selling book Christmas Parties What Do I Do?. It's
great fun to poke each cookie ball with a toothpick, then dip into the chocolate mixture.
Watch their eyes as you hold the cookie up over the double boiler to let the excess
chocolate drip off. Make a large supply, because they will go fast.
Cannoli
This is one of my most favorite childhood desserts; cannolis.
This Italian pastry is very popular in New York bakeries. I remember as a child
growing up on Long Island seeing these delicious confections laid out in the cooled glass
Cream Puff bakery cases. The ends were sprinkled with lime green or multicolored
sprinkles. They were incredibly good. Included in this updated recipe are tips of the
trade from many of our momscooking members on ways to make the shells better and to keep
your filling from being runny.
Brownie Mix Rocky Road Bars

Italian Biscotti
Holiday time is the best season for cookies! Families usually have
their favorites, whether it's chocolate chip, shortbread or pinwheels. Here's an Italian
cookie recipe that I bake thorough out the year. Biscottis are double baked cookies that
are fabulous with milk or any warm beverage- perfect for dunking! For Christmas I dip the
ends of the cookies in melted semi-sweet chocolate and allow to harden. They are barely in
the kitchen for two days after that!
Donna's Gingerbread Cookies
This week's Dessert of the Week is brought to us by Donna, who says,
"I am the mother of four grown children and the grandmother of six. My husband and I
farm with my son....and I gather a lot of craft ideas, games, poems, and activities to use
in my playschool. I have found this recipe for Gingerbread cookies

Marylina's Panetton Cakes
 This is a recipe from Marylina who has made a
holiday tradition on Christmas Eve with this recipe. It is a delightful blend of lemon and
vanilla with almonds, raisins and mixed dried fruits that will make a great addition to
your holiday table. She says, "This recipe I have made it for the last few years, for
my children and their families. We had it on vacation in Greece and wanted to share it
with the children. Now it is something we have Christmas
Eve when we have our annual hay ride out here at our small ranch in
California."

Sue's Yeast Rolls

one thing that is sure to be on our dinner table is yeast rolls. It is one of my
favorite breads. These rolls are light, fluffy,
and easy to make. They are a family tradition in my house ! Watch them disappear! I hope

Pauline's Apricot-Almond No Sugar Cheesecake
This is a
great cheesecake recipe that features
Splenda & fruit which is the first sugar
substitute that you can actually bake with. It comes from Pauline who says, "I have a
low carb, no sugar cheesecake recipe which I've perfected over time. I eat the low carb
diet and higher protein as I am hypoglycemic.
I still love something sweet now and than.. I have found a new sugar substitute called
"Splenda." It's already on the supermarket shelves. Does not have the toxic side
effects that aspartame and nutra-sweet do. Anyway here is my recipe. (for weight management).
Just make it and then "sit down" and enjoy it "guilt-free." OK for
hypoglycemics and diabetics
too.
Cinnamon Buns
This is a
great recipe from one of our members who says, "These cinnamon rolls are a favorite
of family and friends. They are always requested when we have slipovers and for special
holidays. Our 4-H group often serves food at auctions and these are even requested to put
on the menu from familiar customers and auctioneers! They are super easy, super cheap, and
best of all super yummy!"
Paula's Rhubarb Bars
This
recipe comes from a member of our momscooking community, Paula Winemiller, who donated
this recipe as part of our cookie collection.
She says, "I got this recipe from my mother-in-law long time ago.We use it alot in
the summer because of the fresh rhubarb we
have growing.I use it in the winter sometimes if I have some rhubarb in the freezer."
Soft Pretzels
Soft pretzels are both low in fat and
delicious. If you are watching your cholesterol and fat grams this will be an excellent
snack choice. Pretzels, which are baked, not fried, keeps away all those unwanted
calories. These can be shaped into hearts before they are baked. This is fun for
kids of any age.

Coconut Pie
This week's
Dessert of the Week features a delicious Coconut pie that is a wonderful dessert for any
holiday meal or can make a spectacular surprise for a weekday dinner. You can tint the
extra coconut if you would like to add color to your pie. Just put the extra coconut in a
plastic bag and add a drop or 2 of food coloring and shake the bag until the flakes are
completely coated.
