Black & White Cookie
As a
native New Yorker and as a young girl living in New York, I would use my newspaper route
money to buy one of these delicious cookies from my local bakery. Back then I didn't care
how they were made as long as I had my black and white cookie every week. I hope you enjoy
them as much as I do !
Italian Biscotti
 Holiday
time is the best season for cookies! Families usually have their favorites, whether it's
chocolate chip, shortbread or pinwheels. Here's an Italian cookie recipe that I bake
thorough out the year. Biscottis are double baked cookies that are fabulous with milk or
any warm beverage- perfect for dunking! For Christmas I dip the ends of the cookies in
melted semi-sweet chocolate and allow to harden. They are barely in the kitchen for two
days after that! They make great gifts when you combine them with the Cheerful Cookie Box!!
Almond Crescents
Crescents are very popular, not only for the holidays, but as a
great every day cookie. I believe it was the rich buttery texture and delicious almond
fragrance that sold my kids on these cookies. They would just tell you that they taste
great! That says it all to me!

Valentine Hug Box & Cookies
 Yes,
it is a craft, yes it is a recipe, but the best part of it is the personal touch. The
giving of yourself. This Valentine Package should be made for anyone you care about- this
could be grandparents, a sick friend or anyone who could use a hug. Look around your
neighborhood. Look into your own family. If a class is going to create this craft think
about a small group that you would like to donate these treasures to. All will be
brightened by your efforts; your artistry; your art.

Santa's Chocolate Sleigh Bell Cookies
This week's Dessert of the Week features craft author Willie
Ripple's delicious recipe. These cookies, along with hundreds of other terrific Christmas
ideas can be found in her latest best selling book Christmas Parties What Do I Do?. It's
great fun to poke each cookie ball with a toothpick, then dip into the chocolate mixture.
Watch their eyes as you hold the cookie up over the double boiler to let the excess
chocolate drip off. Make a large supply, because they will go fast.
Emmas Peanut Butter Biscotti
by Emma Spataro
A Basset-American Chef

I just love baking Biscotti in the kitchen! As a Basset-American, I feel that we need to
promote the cooking from our culture too. Although we are "opposably-gripped
challenged", we can have a full cooking life too! My "thumbed" friend, Eva,
has to help me open the refrigerator and turn the knobs on the stove. Anyway, I thought
this recipe is really tasty and is great for a midnight snack!
