Emeril's Favorite French Toast
 We
have another egg-ceptional idea from chef Emeril Lagasse who says,
"Oh, man, talk about a walk down memory lane. This is one of the first things I ever
made in the kitchen when I was a little boy. Even back then I liked to experiment to keep
things interesting, and this is the result of one very successful experiment. The orange
flavor in this French toast will just about knock your socks off. Try it-I bet you'll be
back for more!"Mexican Hot Chocolate
Cooking up some
history
In 1828, a Dutch chemist and chocolate manufacturer named
Coenraad Van Houten invented a way of making chocolate
into powder. Her reduced the fat from chocolate liqueur and made what was left into
a hard cake. The cake could be crushed into a powder, which would dissolve easily
into liquid. This started a whole new way to make hot chocolate. See this recipe from
author, Arlette Braman, author of Kids Around the World Cook!
Emeril's My-Oh-My Spaghetti Pie
This featured recipe comes to us from the famous chef
Emeril Lagasse, who has a new book that will help kids enjoy cooking for themselves. It is
called "Emeril's There's a Chef in My Soup." He has allowed us to share some of
his recipe secrets with you for FREE in this new series on the Momscooking support group.
Emeril says, "This layered pie is a really kicked-up idea for leftover spaghetti
noodles! I use mozzarella cheese in this recipe, but go ahead and make yours with whatever
cheese you like best. Cheddar, Monterey Jack, or even smoked Gouda would be great."

Kerr Family Chili
This recipe comes from a member of our momscooking community, Kim
Kerr, who donated this recipe as part of our ChiliUSA collection. She says, "This
chili recipe was one that I grew up on as a child. My mom was the one who put it together
years ago. I still to this day like it on cold, chilly days. My husband Ron enjoys it
also, unfortunately my kids don't like beans. The recipe tends to make quite a bit
but the chili tastes so much better after it has sat a few days in the refrigerator and
then is reheated back up.

This recipe was actually created by
my daughter Evamarie and me while in the grocery store last week. A spur of the moment

a little more "punch". This is what we came up with and I have to say she did a
great job! According the taste testers in my family it got 2 thumbs up. I hope you will
enjoy it too!
Almond Crescents
I remember the first time I made these cookies. The kids all turned

every woman and man for herself ! Almond Crescents are very popular, not only for the
holidays, but as a great every day cookie.
