click here to find out more about SueThis week's Cookie of the Week is brought to us by my cyber buddy Martha Wisniewski : ) She has been a member of both the Homeschoolzone and Families-First communities from their beginnings. She is an energetic, creative woman who is always full of ideas. As a cub scout leader for her son's den, Martha camps, runs crafts workshops, and plans varied activities that help young scouts grow to their fullest potential.. She is an active member of her church and quite the singer! Martha is a great gal : ). She says:

I have started my baking marathon. There are so many terrific cookie recipes. They are all wonderful. It will be hard to choose which ones to bake. My daughters and I plan to give boxes of cookies to friends and family as our little way of saying Merry Christmas. We always have a wonderful time baking together. The kitchen takes a beating, but it is more than worth it.

Please take the time to bake with your kids. Go to our Cookie Library and have them chose a recipe they would like to bake. This makes the holidays extra special.

What you need:

  • 1 Cup Soft butter or margarine
  • 2 Cups sugar
  • 1 Cup of Store bought Eggnog
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teas ground nutmeg
  • 5 1/2 Cups of Flour (sifted)
  • 1 egg white, lightly beaten
  • colored sugar sprinkles

What you do:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Beat in Eggnog, baking soda and nutmeg.
  2. Gradually add flour and mix well. Cover and chill at least 1 hour. On a lightly floured surface roll out half of the dough to 1/8 thickness. Cut into desired shapes, place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  3. Brush cookies with beaten egg white and sprinkle on colored sugar. Bake at 350 for 6-8 minutes. Remove to cool on a wire rack.
  4. This should make about 16 dozen cookies.
