click here to find out more about SueThis week's Cookie of the Week is brought to us by Brain Morris.  Brian is the first "guy" Cookie of the Week chef and I'm thrilled that he passed on his grandmother's recipe to us. As you'll read about Brian, he's a very ambitious and busy man with a love for his children and desire to do the best he can. Keep up the good work Brian! Here's a little bit about Brain and his cookie recipe:

I am a full-time student going to college for the first time ever to do something that I  wanted to do 25 years ago; get a degree to be an elementary school teacher.  This leaves me with very little time for cooking except on weekends.  This recipe is quick to make and delicious.  I have 3 children who spend every other weekend with me.  I've used some of the recipes from you in the past and the kids and I just love them.  Thank you for the offer of the Cookie of the Week.

Here is one of my grandmother's old recipes, dating back to the late 1800s or early 1900s for Tea Biscuit Drops.

As you will see it has been left just as it was in her old notebook with very few instructions.
Hope you enjoy them

  - Brain Morris

  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 well beaten egg
  • 2/3 cup milk

What you do:

  1. Lightly grease baking or cookie sheets with butter or margarine.  Take a rounded teaspoonful of cookie dough and place on the cookie sheet.   Do the same with the rest of the dough, cookies should be 1 inch apart.
  2. Bake 15-20 minutes in a 350 degree oven.
