Halloween bag will make sure
that all that candy comes home in one piece. I got this idea after years of trying to
catch candy coming from the bottom of ripped bags while trick or treating with the kids.
The bags can be reused every year and are sturdy enough for the most aggressive trick or
treater. There are many ways of decorating the bags from creative stitching to fabric
painting. This craft is perfect for all kids whether it is done at home or in school.
What you need:
- Canvas bag
- Drawing paper
- Pencil
- Fabric paint
- Yarn
- Large holed sewing needle for yarn
- Glue- tacky or hot glue gun
- Buttons, sequins, beads, ribbons.
- Scissors
- Felt squares
What you do:
Decide on what you would like to have on your bag. Some children may
want a purely Halloween motif and others may like to make it more personalized. Whatever
is decided it should first be sketched on paper.
- Felt is a terrific fabric for this project as it doesn't
fray. A pumpkin, for example, can be drawn and used as a pattern. Once it is cut out it
can be stitched by hand onto the bag. Ribbons and scraps of material can likewise be
included. Buttons make good eyes and small stencils can be used with fabric paint.
- Fabric paint is a very good craft supply to use for this
project. The fine painting point is excellent to decorate the bag's handle and side. Don't
forget there are 2 sides to the bag. Make sure that the first side of your bag is
completely dry, if using paint or glue, before decorating the other side of the bag.
