These crafts
are very simple and can be completed using household items. You can also use the dough
like clay and make a sculpture. This is a fun way to make beautiful and great smelling
pieces of art!
Enjoy!What
you need:

- 1/2 cup of salt
- 1 cup of potpourri - old or new.
You can use fragant, fresh flowers too.

- Cookie cutters
What you do:
- Mix all of the ingredients together and refrigerate for 5
minutes.

How to the
potpourri finer before mixing
From: Carol
As I was doing this craft this morning, I
realized too late that I should have done something to make the potpourri finer before
mixing it into the dough. I was having a lot of trouble cutting it out as the cookie
cutter wouldn't go thru larger pieces of potpourri. I thought that next time I'd run the
potpourri thru a blender or food processor to make it finer, but I wasn't sure if it was a
good idea to do that since maybe the chemicals in the mix wouldn't completely wash away
off the blades and container. Anyway, I hit on the idea of taking a ball of dough and
pressing it into the cookie cutter instead. (I have cookie cutters that are open, not the
older solid type.) It worked great! The edges were smooth and even, not lumpy like before.
They came out with a slightly raised edge which was easily flattened by turning the molded
shape over and pressing it down gently.
Potpourri
Pies
From: Janie
When I made my potpourri pies, I used
crocheted strips made with crust colored yarn, make them different lengths, lay one layer
across the pie and then weave the second layer just like a lattice top pie, hot glue the
edges to the pie plate. You can use a circle of tulle material under this to keep
the potpourri from spilling. Another one I saw used muslin material with small slits cut
in it and glued to the pie plate and yet another used the muslin trimmed with
pinking shears into strips and woven like the lattice top. You can even spread some glue
lightly and sprinkle with diamond dust to make it look like sugar on top if you want.

decorated, scented gifts. They are sure to liven up any room with their fragrance.
You'll want to choose scents which your mom likes. You can substitute potpourri oil for

A Child's Footprint
This Footprint Craft includes both the child's
footprint, a nice momento, and a wonderful, touching poem. Write the poem in the
shape of a large footprint using waterproof marker. Using watercolors or watered
down tempera paints paint the child's foot and print it over the written poem a couple of
time. After all is dried laminate the piece of paper and attach string on the back for
hanging. |
