This week's Craft of the Week, Snowman Soup, is brought to us by
Veronica an active and fun member of our online craft group, Craftzone. She shared this
adorable gift idea with our group.
Veronica is a mother of 4 ages 13, 10, 7, and 2 1/2. She's stationed with her
husband at McGuire AFB in New Jersey and Veronica loves to make homemade items to give as
gifts. Her kids enjoy it too. It also saves money to make them.
Veronica loves all the great ideas she's received on the
Internet, crafting, and being a mother. Paulette has shared this same
craft and says, "I did the image to the right so people can actually print this out
and use it this way. I don't have the finished craft put together But the
"topper" folds over and gets stapled to the bag with the ingredients in."

The
"snowball" effect of Snowman's Soup
From: Sally
I must let you know about all of the fun I
have had with "snowman soup". I made one for a friend she told another friend
and they in turn made them for gifts to a
telephone committee. I made another dozen of them for a friend to give as secret Santa
gifts at work. He has more fun putting them in their mailboxes and they have no idea where
they come from. I took one to an eating place we go to and one of the other customers saw
it and she has decide that she wants to make them for the group home where she works. She
works with the elderly and it will make a nice surprise gift. It has made me so happy to
see just how this project as snowballed. Guess that is what Christmas is really about how
many people you can make happy or bring a smile to their faces. It doesn't always mean we
have to give big presents just do a little something for someone else.
Use a permanent
marking pen on the cup to personalize it
From: Annie
My Grandchildren called me to tell me what St
Nicholas brought them. They were all excited about the Snowman Soup. I had found cups at
Ames with a snowman on each cup. The snowman had a knit red hat so on the folded part of
the hat I had printed each one's name with a permanent marking pen. They thought that was
great - a cup with their own name on it from St. Nicholas. Many thanks again.
Great Gift &
Fundraising Idea
From: Bev

Wonderful
experience with Snowman Soup
From: Donna
My 16 year old grandaughter collects snowman
and also loves coffee as a matter of fact she and I do coffee alot when we are together I
got a cappicinio cup bought a small packet of hazelnut coffee with a chocolate covered
spoon and when I meet her in Tifton Ga. today I gave the snowman soup and other stuff to
her and she cried. I did too! Thanks again.Just wanted to share my bonding experience with
others.
Using small ice
cream cones
From: Terry
I made ornaments like this with small ice
cream cones. We used the sample cones they give out in the grocery store. (The
store thought I was crazy when I asked to buy a box of the cones.!)
I only used white paint,
and painted it on like it was whipped cream dripping down the ball. The
glitter stuck well to the paint.
You could also use a snow texture compound.
You can get this in any craft store. It would have the thickness and
texture look of real frosting--but dries hard. Glitter sticks to it well before it
dries.
For the day care kids
probably satin balls would be your better choice--as suggested by Wendy.
The results would still be fun!
The only bad thing about the ice cream cone ornaments
you need to make sure they are out of the dog's reach! We learned that by
experience! Also---wrap them in a sealed container before storing so the mice don't find
them in the summer! We learned that by experience too. Ugh!!
Have a great day. Toodles!
40 mini-mug salt
shakers
From: Laura
I LOVE it!! I LOVE it!!! I just bought about
40 mini-mug salt shakers at Garden Ridge for 35 cents. I was trying to figure out what to
do w/them. I have my girl scout troop in mind. We have a huge bag of leftover hot
chocolate that we made for an event. I thought of filling it w/the mix, but didn't know
what else to do to make it a little more special. I'm so glad I decided to find out what
all the Snowman fuss was about. My little mugs ALMOST became reindeer food recepticles!!!
My daughter likes it too ...
Laura
I made it for my
students and they want it again!
From: lazonya
I made 'Snowman Soup" for my middle
school students last year at Christmas. They were thrilled with the mug and its contents.
Word got out to my current class that they should expect the same gift this year, and last
year's students have already asked if they could have another one this holiday day season!
Thank you for making me look so great.
Great Gift & Fundraising Idea
Brownies in a Jar Gift
  Everyone loves
brownies. Brownies are the perfect gift and you'll love our Brownies in a Jar. All
you need is a one quart jar that you can pick up at your local craft store. Just
take the ingredients for the Double Fudge Brownie Mix and fill the jar. You can make
the jar festive by using a colorful ribbon to tie on the recipe instructions along with a
note from you. Using a small piece of material you can also cover the lid of the jar
add the ribbon and you have "wrapped" your gift!
Glitter Domes
One of my favorite decorations for the holidays is the snow globe. I
remember loving those snow globes that were so plentiful during the holiday season. I
loved ( and I still do) shaking them and watching the colorful glitter fall to the bottom
of the dome coating Santa or whatever figure was in the dome. It was like peering into a
fantasy world. These make fabulous gifts for friends, family, teachers, or for yourself!
The materials are simple to find. This is a super craft for children of all ages. |

The Candy Cane
Story
by Joy Nall, Amy Floyd Gillette, Thomas G. Nall

A wonderful Christian book revealing the symbolism behind the candy cane. The creation of
the candy cane was a gift by a candy maker who wanted to share the beautiful story of
Jesus through his candy. "The Candy Cane Story" brings to life Mr. Sugarbaker,
the candy maker, and his delightful gift. May "The Candy Cane Story" spread
Christmas cheer, along with love, hope, and peace to all throughout the year.
