Here is another fun and attractive turkey craft. My daughter Evamarie created these wonderful napkin
rings on a rainy Friday afternoon. I think they are fabulous and hope you do too! They are
made from toilet paper rolls, construction paper and a bit of Fun Foam. This craft is
perfect for kids age 5 and older. Happy Thanksgiving !What you need:
What you do:
- Cut the rolls so that they each are 2 inches in length. Cut
colored paper so that it can be evenly wrapped around the roll ( 2 inches wide). This will
color your napkin ring. Glue the edges to the roll.
- Using a piece of blank paper, draw a turkey approximately
1-2 inches in height. Try to draw a profile of a turkey - including beak.
 Hint:
You can "cheat" and use our turkey from our coloring page or use our
"Turkey Soup"
Turkey
- Cut this out and it will be used as a pattern. Take the
turkey pattern and place on the brown Fun Foam and cut around the edges to form a foam
turkey.
- Make feathers for your turkey by using the construction
paper. Be creative- you can make individual feathers or a group of them. Attach them to
your turkey with glue.
- Attach the foam turkey onto the your colored roll with glue.
For additional decoration you can add ribbon along both the top and bottom edges of the
roll.
"Turkey Soup" Gift &
Fundraising Idea
This easy and charming craft is
really a wonderful gift for any and all of the gobblers in your life. We have created a wonderful gift tag that you can easily download
and attach to your mug to make this a special gift. The tag has an adorable picture and
inside we have written a poem especially dedicated to Thanksgiving. This can be given as
an inexpensive and fun favor for a Thanksgiving party, a gift for a favorite relative and friend and a wonderful
Thanksgiving centerpiece. You'll want to make them for your kids. "Turkey
Soup" is also a very good project to raise money (fund raising) for organizations
like the scouts, churches and/or schools.
Halloween & Fall Centerpieces
 This craft is great
for decorating your house, classroom, or party table. It can easily become a Fall
decoration if you decide to make the wooden craft spoons into pumpkins, apples, or acorns
just by using the appropriate colored acrylic paint. For example, if you would rather make
pumpkins instead of ghosts for your centerpiece, then by painting the wooden craft spoons
orange and making pumpkin faces you have a fun pumpkin Halloween or fall centerpiece.
Halloween Pots are simple to make, kids from age 4 and up can have fun making these
festive Halloween decorations.
Paper Mache Hot Air Balloon
This is a paper
mache balloon which is an excerpt from Class Winning 3-Dimensional Valentine Boxes by
Debbie Barnhill. We have pictures and illustrations to go with the craft as well as an
interview with the author/creator Debbie Barnhill. It's a lot of fun, so don't miss it. |
