"Deck the Halls with Boughs of Challah"
Interweaving interfaith religions & traditions
by Beth Bruno & Deirdre O'Gorman Goldsmith
bethbruno.jpg (4794 bytes)Many families interweave the traditions of different religions. My friends, Scott and Deirdre, who were raised in Jewish and Roman Catholic families, respectively, combined their religions when they married and now look ahead to educating their children, families and friends through the richness each religion brings into their lives. Find out more with a wonderful essay from my friend Dierdre.

Lace/Ribbon Angels
ribbonangels.jpg (15836 bytes)This week's Craft of the Week features a great Bible & holiday craft from Jerry Gleason of Dodge City, Kansas. She says, "I truly appreciate being able to share some of my craftwork. I have worked as a paraeducator/paraprofessional in special education classrooms at our local high school for over nine years. Therefore, have always had the need for simple, inexpensive craft projects for the classroom. I love crafting and spend a lot of time looking for new ideas. They truly are easy to make."

This week's Craft of the Week features a wonderful gift that children of any age can make. Gel Jars are beautifully decorated, scented gifts.  They are sure to liven up any room with their fragrance. You'll want to choose scents which your mom likes. You can substitute potpourri oil for the essential oils in this craft.

World's Greatest Dad Tee Shirt
Here's a handmade gift that dad is sure to love. He can wear it all year long and be reminded of how much he is loved! It is a great gift for Christmas, Father's Day, or when you just want to make that special keepsake treasure that you know dad will use.

Bagel Bird Feeder
bagelbirdfeeder.jpg (14820 bytes)These terrific birdfeeders are a excellent project for children at home and in the classroom. One crafter named Tensie said, "We have a 4, 3, 1 and newborn in this household.  We love to watch the birds and clouds and the neighborhood resident squirrel.  This feeder is good because it does not put SO much seed out in the yard that I am growing it all IN the yard when they drop it all on the grass.  Plus our little guys can do this almost by themselves!  They love to be IN control of an activity sometimes."

Hand Lamb
rosscraft.jpg (5471 bytes)rosslambhand100.gif (2440 bytes)This craft is brought to us by popular crafter and craft author Kathy Ross.  She has written over a dozen craft books that families and kids have enjoyed for years.  Kathy has a book for every season and every idea imaginable. This week's craft comes from her Crafts from your favorite Bible Stories. The Hand Lamb craft reinforces  Psalm 23 "The Lord is my shepherd."

Potato Prints
bookmaking.gif (5011 bytes)potato.jpg (5669 bytes)This is a great way for you to use a simple potato to make a stamp for almost any holiday. All you need is a pencil to draw an outline of the shape you would like to print on the cut surface of the potato. Simple shapes work best and are great fun and inexpensive too!!
