Paper Mache Hot Air Balloon
from: "Class
Winning 3-Dimensional Valentine Boxes"
by Debbie Barnhill
Debbie Barnhill finds treasure in empty cardboard boxes, oatmeal and coffee
containers, carpet tubes, newspapers, paper-towel rolls and other household items and it
is amazing how you can convert trash into treasure. As an elementary school teacher she
has seen the valentine box evolve over the years. Debbie's book features step-by-step
instructions with beautiful illustrations and we are featuring one of the crafts in the
book called Paper Mache Hot Air Balloon.
Love Bugs
These love bugs are perfect to decorate
your house or classroom for Valentine's day. These fun and easy butterflies can be
made by children who are three years old and older. We also have ideas from you on using
markers and also how to make a tie-dye effect.
Valentine Hug Box & Cookies
Yes, it is a craft, yes it is a recipe, but the best part of it is
the personal touch. The giving of yourself. This Valentine Package should be made for
anyone you care about- this could be grandparents, a sick friend or anyone who could use a
hug. Look around your neighborhood. Look into your own family. If a class is going to
create this craft think about a small group that you would like to donate these treasures
to. All will be brightened by your efforts; your artistry; your art.
Valentine Heart Pins

These heart shaped pins are charming and easy for the whole family to make. First you make
the play dough. This dough will last for months in an airtight container.
The pin directions follow the dough instructions.
Have fun!

This week's Craft
of the Week came from Tanya. This fun and versatile playdough has been around for decades
and now you too can make it right in your own home. Store the Silly Putty in an air tight
container, plastic bag, or plastic Easter egg (just like the original putty). The mixture
will look like putty after it is kneaded, in fact, the more you knead the better the
consistency will be.
